What we’re doing
Sydney Streets are single-day street festivals that celebrate local neighbourhoods, bring communities together and support local businesses. Along with closing roads to traffic, we provide roving entertainment, outdoor seating and tables, and portable toilets. For local businesses and organisations, it’s an opportunity to extend to the street with attractions such as food stalls, outdoor dining, pop-ups and games.
Since 2022 we’ve presented over 30 events at:
- Haymarket – parts of Dixon, Hay, Little Hay and Sussex streets.
- Macleay Street, Potts Point – between Greenknowe and Roslyn streets.
- Stanley Street, Darlinghurst – between Yurong and Crown streets.
- Glebe Point Road, Glebe – between Parramatta and St Johns roads.
- Redfern Street, Redfern – between Regent and Chalmers streets.
- Harris Street, Pyrmont – between Pyrmont Bridge Road and Union Street.
- Crown Street, Surry Hills – between Cleveland and Foveaux streets.
Why we’re doing this
Sydney Streets was piloted in 6 locations shortly after the second lockdown to allow the public to reconnect safely and support local businesses during the pandemic. The events have since evolved into strong neighbourhood celebrations with the addition of Haymarket.
