RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. RSS is an easy way to receive updates and news from websites. RSS feeds provide web content or summaries of web content together with links to the full versions of the content.
RSS allows you to see when sites from all over the Internet have added new content. You can get the latest headlines and articles (or even audio files, photographs or video) in one place, as soon as they are published, without having to remember to visit each site every day.
City of Sydney RSS feeds, or channels, are available from the addresses listed above and can be read in a program called a newsreader or aggregator.
There is a range of different newsreaders available and new versions are appearing all the time. Different newsreaders work on different operating systems, so you will need to choose one that will work with your computer.
Once you have downloaded and installed a reader, follow its instructions for adding new channels.
Try a quick search for "RSS newsreader" or visit the Google RSS directory. Alternatively, below is a small selection of newsreaders. Please note, the City of Sydney is not responsible for the content of external Internet sites.
