As part of Sustainable Sydney 2030 research and planning, we canvassed the ideas and opinions of thousands of Sydneysiders for their feedback and opinions on the future of their city.
Over 12 months the City held more than 30 community forms, round-table discussions, business forums and City Talks; received more than 15,000 website visitors and 200 comments; and received more than 2,000 comments through the Future Phone.
People of all ages and backgrounds told us they wanted an environmentally sustainable city, one in which people can feel at home and yet connected to the world; a city whose thriving economy positions it as a global centre of excellence, while supporting a rich and creative culture.
People want a city that continues to respond, adapt to and manage the issues and challenges of climate change and a global economy.
Through our extensive consultation, thousands of people commented on what kind of City they want Sydney to be. Messages were collected on our website, on the Future Phone and at community forums and presentations.
“A City where people feel a sense of belonging, feel a connection to the local village, shops and people in the street”
“A cultural hot spot, edgy and gritty”
“A City that includes indigenous people in its future “
Listen to the community voices from the Sustainable Sydney 2030 Future Phone:
