History Week 2008 - The Water's Edge

6 - 14 September 2008

History Week is our state's annual celebration of history, historians and historical practice. It is an initiative of the History Council of NSW. This year the theme is The Water's Edge. There are over 250 events happening across the state. Visit www.historyweek.com.au for the full program.

History Week will be launched on Friday 5 September with the Annual History Lecture at Government House. The lecture will be delivered by Professor Joy Damousi.

The main event is the History Week Open Day on Saturday 6 September. Come down to Circular Quay, the Rocks and Millers Point and experience The Water's Edge throughout history.

At the City of Sydney we will be focussing on the harbour, the waterfront, and Sydney's water features. Customs House Library will be jumping with talks, film screenings, workshops and exhibitions. More details below.

A shuttle bus will be running between the various History Week Open Day events and the Millers Point festival, so you can leave the car at home!
