Cycleways Network
Sydney’s bike network is designed to maximise connectivity.
The aim is to connect places where people live, work and enjoy their entertainment and provide a safe, quick and healthy transport option to help people get around the city.
Improving the public’s ability to move across the city through sustainable transport options like cycling means faster travel for shorter trips, fewer cars on the road, less overcrowding on public transport and better air quality – things that benefit everyone.
And research shows we are achieving these aims, with bike counts over the past 12 months showing trips have doubled and tripled in areas where we’ve built the bike network
We’re now concentrating on upgrading ten key routes connected to major destinations within and beyond the City of Sydney.
The presentation below highlights the work that has been done so far and the benefits it has brought, as well as some of the plans for the future.
