Toilets located in parks are generally open between sunrise and sunset, seven days per week. Public toilet facilities are typically present at major parks including: the Botanic Gardens and Domain; Darling Harbour and Tumbalong Park; Centennial and Moore Park; Hyde Park and the Glebe Foreshore Parks. A list of City of Sydney parks with toilet facilities is available.
Toilets located in shopping centres and public libraries are generally open business hours Monday to Saturday. Toilets located at train stations are generally open during station operating hours.
Automated Public Toilets
Automated public toilets, which require 50 cents to enter are located at Hyde Park (North and South), Belmore Park, Lang Park; Wynyard Park; Ward Park, Surry Hills; Alfred Street, Circular Quay and Railway Square.
These toilet facilities operate between 6am and 12 midnight and are hygienic, brightly lit and secure. After each use, the toilet bowl and floor is cleaned and disinfected prior to the next use. Audio and visual instructions are provided within each facility.
An emergency button with intercom is linked by telephone to the toilet service provider at all times. Instructions are also available in Braille. Usage is limited to 20 minutes and is controlled by an alarm accompanied by a flashing light to let the user know that the door will open shortly. Security sensors in the floor are activated by 25kg of pressure so parents need to attend small children using the toilet facilities.
Free tokens for use at automated public toilets are available for pensioners, persons with a disability and disadvantaged persons from Customer Service Centres.
Automated public toilets located at Fitzroy Gardens, Kings Cross and at Joynton Park, Tote Park and Nuffield Park, Zetland are free to use and operate 24 hours per day.
