Generation C showcases works by eight young Chinese photomedia artists born in the 1970s, China’s first “me” generation. The works abandon notions of photography as a document of the real and reveal the ambivalence of their times. Playful yet earnest, some artists wield satire like a sword while others evoke a quiet melancholy for the traditions lost during China’s rapid growth.
