Peter Tesch
Executive Director, Shanghai World Expo Unit, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade
Peter will oversee Australia’s participation in the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. Most recently he was in charge of DFAT’s information and communication technology services and planning area. He was Convenor of the 1996 National Trade and Investment Outlook Conference in Melbourne, and was responsible for planning and project implementation for Australia’s participation in World Expo 2000 in Germany.

Peter has had three overseas postings: Third Secretary in the Australian Embassy, Moscow (1989 -1991); Ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan (1997 - 1999) and deputy head of mission in the Australian Mission to the United Nations in New York (2002 – 2005). He spent a year on the staff of the Minister for Trade (1993) and two years in the department’s Melbourne office (1994 – 1995) where his focus was on promoting stronger links between DFAT and the Victorian business community in support of the government’s international trade and foreign policy agenda.
