Glebe Town Hall is the most majestic Italianate style ‘civic’ building found in Glebe. Completed in 1880 to house the local Glebe Council to the specifications and design of its architect, Ambrose Thornley Junior, the Glebe Town Hall is an iconic local landmark.
The elegant rooms of the town hall have always been at the centre of social and civic life in Glebe. For over 120 years it has hosted meetings, public demonstrations, serious debates, balls, grand civic functions and community celebrations.
Venues available for hire at the Glebe Town Hall include the main hall, two small halls and two meeting rooms. All are available for hire for community, private and commercial use.
The Main Hall
The main hall on the first floor features a large open area suitable for dancing, performances, theatre, conferences, formal dinners and special functions. The hall is used for a diverse range of community, private and commercial activities such as public meetings, functions, conferences, workshops and dance classes.
Capacity: 120 people depending on use
Exhibition Space: 200 square metres.
Small Halls
There are two small halls suitable for dance classes, yoga, ballet, theatre workshops, playgroups, theatre rehearsals, functions, meetings and conferences.
Capacity: 60 people depending on use
Exhibition Space: 60 square metres.
Meeting Rooms
On the ground floor there are one small meeting room. The carpeted meeting room is suitable for yoga, small meetings and workshops.
Capacity: up to 20 people depending on use.
Exhibition Space: 40 square metres.
Bar Room/Kitchens
A large bar room/kitchen is located on the upper level just off the large main hall. Features include a fridge, vinyl floors, sink and stainless steel benches. This bar room may suitable for use by professional caterers. A second (smaller) kitchen is available on the ground floor for the convenience of all hirers.
Facilities include a zip hot and cold water system and a fridge.

Disabled Access
Ramp access to the ground floor only. There is no disabled access toilet in the building.

Special Considerations
- All hirers must accept responsibility for and pay the cost of, any additional cleaning of the premises by contractors as a result of the premises being left after use in a dirty or untidy condition.
- Private functions may be required to engage licensed security for the evening of the function.
- The sale of alcohol on the premises is allowed if an appropriate Liquor Licence is obtained from the relevant authority in respect of the function.
- Private functions will require an accredited Gold Star Caterer for the responsible service of alcohol.
- All hirers will be required to sign and agree to the conditions of the Community Venues hire agreement.
- Public Liability obligations must be met
- The Glebe Town Hall is a non-smoking venue.

This indoor auditorium features courts suitable for basketball, indoor soccer, volleyball and netball and a sprung floor ideal for ballroom dancing, dance, physical theatre and rehearsals. The auditorium is also used for a diverse range of community activities such as tai chi.

Situated in a prime location next to Glebe Library, this venue is suitable for meetings, gentle exercise groups, rehearsals and small functions. The room is well lit and there are verandahs on both sides of the hall.

The Glebe Incinerator was designed by the renowned architect Walter Burley Griffin. It was restored and reinterpreted in 2006 and is located on the shores of Blackwattle Bay at the bottom of Forsyth Street, Glebe and offers stunning water views. The facility offers a small function room suitable for meetings and small functions.
