Domestic Violence is a Crime

Domestic Violence is a Crime Police and Community booklet cover

Police and Community Booklet

The City of Sydney has published the Domestic Violence is a Crime: Police and Community Booklet to help people who live in the local government area and have experienced domestic or family violence. The Booklet, originally written by NSW Police Force with support from the City of Sydney, was updated in 2010.

The resource includes information about reporting incidents to the Police, outlines how to seek protection and how to apply for an Apprehended Domestic Violence Order. It also provides practical information on who to contact for help and how to access accommodation services.

The City of Sydney is committed to making the city safer for our residents and aims to help by demystifying the reporting process, as well as assisting residents to find support services in order to become and stay safe.

How to get a copy

A copy of the Booklet is available from the Redfern and Inner City Legal Centres, Women’s Legal Services NSW, Wirringa Baiya Aboriginal Women’s Legal Centre, Indigenous Women’s Legal Contact Line, the Downing Centre, Newtown Local Court, Balmain Local Court, Police Stations in the City, City Libraries and community centres.
