Multicultural Services

The City of Sydney fosters a vibrant and diverse city community through a variety of multicultural initiatives and programs.

Community Languages Library Collection
The City of Sydney offers library collections in a number of different languages.

Multilingual Community Resources & Tools
The City of Sydney in partnership with other organisations have developed a number of free multicultural resources and tools to inform clients of community services, ensure services are accessible and welcoming to  Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities and assist service providers to work with the CALD community.

Cultural Diversity Strategy 2008-2011
The City of Sydney Cultural Diversity Strategy 2008-2011 is the blueprint for how the City of Sydney will celebrate and support cultural diversity, which is one of the contributing factors of the City’s continued social, cultural and economic success.

International Students
With three major universities, namely University of Sydney, UNSW and UTS, TAFE institutes and about 30 private colleges within and surrounding the City of Sydney Local Government Area, the City is home to a significant International Student population. In 2008, the City undertook research into the experience of international students.

Super V Multicultural Volunteers Projects
The City of Sydney funds and supports a number of projects under the Super V Multicultural Volunteers program. The program is a partnership initiative between the City of Sydney, UNSW Community Development Project, and a range of other community organisations.

Living in Harmony Festival
The City's Living in Harmony Festival is part of the Commonwealth Government Diverse Australia Program. The Diverse Australia Program is an initiative that engages all Australians to address issues of cultural, racial and religious intolerance by promoting respect, fairness, inclusion and a sense of belonging for everyone.

Multicultural Art Competition
The City of Sydney Multicultural Art Competition showcases illustrative artworks that tell a story and encapsulate the City's cultural diversity.

Sharing Our Stories: A Forum Celebrating
Sexuality, Sex & Gender Diversity in Multicultural Communities

The City in partnership with a range of community organisations invites you to a free community forum to explore sexual and gender diversity in multicultural communities and to celebrate their journeys and strengths.
