Drivin' 4 Employment

Drivin’ 4 Employment is a partnership program between City of Sydney, Salvation Army and Oasis Youth Support Networks. The youth employment initiative assists unemployed young people living in the City of Sydney to gain their learners and provisional driver’s licenses.
Why was the Drivin' 4 Employment program developed?
Drivin’ 4 Employment was developed to address the issue of high youth unemployment in the City of Sydney local government area. Notably, a lack of driver’s license was identified as a major barrier to employment for young people aged 16 to 24 years.
What does the Drivin' 4 Employment program involve?
The first stage of the program assists first time drivers to get their learners license. This stage includes a driver safety component, a budgeting session and a job seeker section.
The second stage assists young people to gain their provisional license with the use of the Drivin’ 4 Employment vehicle and assistance from qualified instructors, volunteers and mentors.
How do young people join the Drivin’ 4 Employment program?
Participants in the program are referred from local youth agencies, Centrelink and job network agencies. Participants must be unemployed and between 16 - 24 years of age. They will be asked to complete a registration form and their name will be added to the waiting list for the program.
