Youth Strategy

The City of Sydney’s commitment to young people is reflected in its Youth Strategy.

What is the City of Sydney Youth Strategy?

Developed during 2004 and updated annually, the City of Sydney Youth Strategy is a document that comprises:

  • a demographic analysis of young people aged 12 to 24 years living in the City of Sydney
  • outcomes of consultation with young people and youth agencies
  • an overview of current youth services
  • an assessment of priority youth needs and issues in the City of Sydney Local Government Area.

Who Prepared It?

The City of Sydney Youth Strategy was developed in partnership between the City of Sydney, members of the City of Sydney Youth Interagency and the city’s young people.

What is the Purpose of the Strategy?

The City of Sydney Youth Strategy:

  • identifies priority youth issues and needs in the City of Sydney Local Government Area
  • provides guiding principles for the City of Sydney Youth Interagency
  • includes an action plan for implementing actions to address major youth issues and needs.
