Wards Referendum
Information on the referendum to be held in conjunction with the Election

City of Sydney ratepayers will go to the polls to elect a new Council on Saturday 13 September 2008.

The City of Sydney Council is represented by a Lord Mayor and nine Councillors. Each year the Councillors elect a Deputy Lord Mayor from amongst themselves.

Referendum

In addition, Council is holding a Referendum to ask the question:

Do you agree to the City of Sydney being divided into three wards, with each ward electing three Councillors?

If ratepayers decide to create wards it would not come into effect until the next election in 2012.
