Activities on footpaths – New policies and procedures

Exhibition and invitation to comment - proposed procedures for activities on public footpaths.
The City is developing new policies and procedures for the conduct of the following activities on public footpaths:
- the display and/or sale of goods outside shops
- outdoor seating associated with restaurants (and similar premises)
- the distribution of printed matter and other (eg. promotional) items.
Discussion Papers
Three Discussion Papers detailing the proposed policy for each activity are on exhibition and your comments are invited.
The Discussion Papers and related Council reports are available for inspection during normal opening hours from Tuesday 24 April to Tuesday 5 June 2007 at Council Offices at Town Hall House, Redfern, Erskineville, Glebe and Kings Cross.
Update
The City is reviewing the Discussion Papers for the Display and/or Sale of Goods Outside Shops and Outdoor Seating Associated with Restaurants on the basis of submissions received during the exhibition.
The City of Sydney Policy for the Distribution of Printed Matter and Other Material was adopted by Council on 27 August 2007. The Draft Local Approvals Policy for the Distribution of Handbills (and associated structures) was placed on exhibition between 12 November 2007 and 24 December 2007.
