Draft Inclusion (Disability) Action Plan 2007-11

This draft Inclusion (Disability) Action Plan 2007-2011 seeks to reinforce the commitment of the city to the equitable inclusion of people of all abilities within the widest range of the city's activities wherever possible.

The Draft Plan is available for download in varied formats.

Building on the work of the Inclusion Access and Equity Needs Assessment Study of 2006, and previous action plans by the City of Sydney and the former South Sydney City Council, this plan seeks to address issues of inclusion and access

Within the built environment
In the public domain
In the provision of services and facilities
In its communication and advocacy
As the producer of events, and
As an employer of people with disabilities.

This plan outlines practical and timely responses with the aim that these become the mainstream responsibilities of business units throughout Council.

It includes key initiatives including the establishment of the Inclusion Advisory Panel, the provision of key documents in alternative formats upon request, and continued disability awareness training across Council, and monitoring and maintenance of kerb ramps.
