My proposal is to place a figure sitting meditating on top of the ‘plinth’ that rises out of the men’s convenience at Taylor Square. Sculptures are by definition still. This is a work about that stillness. MOUNTAIN takes a position of stillness as a counter to the dynamic nature of the site with its obvious ‘business’, ebb and flow of people, festivals, and events.

I would also like to explore the possibility of a living sculpture, working with real people meditating on a rotational basis.  For a three month period a seated figure could be meditating, and still at the site, or the idea could be developed as a 24 hour or week long event as part of the over all project.
