Rates Payment Methods
Ratepayers may make payment for rates and domestic waste management charges in one lump sum or over quarterly instalments. Council will mail a notice one month prior to each instalment falling due.
There are eight payment options which are listed below, click on the option to find out more:

Direct Debit
The direct debit method of payment is the cheapest and easiest way for you to pay your rates.
Only registered Direct Debit customers can use the Direct Debit payment option.
To register as a Direct Debit customer, you need to download the Direct Debit Request Form and return to Council by mail, fax or in person. This form can be also obtained by telephoning 02 9265 9333 (during business hours)
This payment option is a debit transaction transferred directly from your nominated bank account.
When registering, you can choose to either authorise City of Sydney to automatically debit your account in annual or quarterly instalments, or dial our Pay-By-Phone service on 1300 360 062 to debit your bank account at the time you make the call. All you need to do is enter your customer number followed by the amount you wish to pay. There is no need to enter your bank account details every time you pay.
Telephone
Call 1300 360 062 anytime and follow the easy step-by-step instructions.
You will need to enter all seven digits of your assessment number (Note: you do not need to enter the hyphen/dash. For example, Assessment number 012345-6 should be entered as 0123456).
You can pay using VISA or MasterCard OR if you are a registered Direct Debit customer, your cheque or savings account.
Mail your cheque or money order, payable to:

together with the bottom portion of your notice.
Please note that no receipts will be issued for payments through the mail.
Westpac Branch
Take your notice into any branch of the Westpac Banking Corporation to pay your account over the counter, whether you hold an account with Westpac or not. The bank will stamp the top portion of your notice and return it as your receipt.

BPay
Payments can be made using BPAY either over the phone or the Internet using your cheque, savings, or credit card account. Simply quote Biller Code: 7500 along with your BPay referemce number, amount and bank account details. You can access the BPay website here.
Australia Post (Postbillpay)
You can pay at any Australia Post outlet or by phone using Australia Post (Postbillpay).
Phone
You can pay using your Debit Card (savings, cheque account) or Credit Card (Bankcard, Visa or MasterCard) over the phone.
To pay by phone simply ring Australia Post (Postbillpay) on 13 1816 and have your credit card, your Rate Notice and pen handy. Your Postbillpay reference number is located on the top right portion of your Rate Notice.
Australia Post (Postbillpay) is a national bill paying service, which allows credit card payment of bills on a 24hour/7 days a week basis.
Australia Post Outlet (Over the Counter)
Payment may be made at any Australia Post outlet in Australia. Go to the Australia Post website to see where your local outlet is.
The Post Office teller will scan the bar code located on the front of your Rate Notice.
The Post office teller will retain the deposit slip then stamp the Rate Notice and return it to you as a receipt or print out a receipt and attach it to the Rate Notice.
The Post office will accept cash, cheque, MasterCard, VISA, or EFTPOS.

By pre-registering you can view your account(s) and make VISA or MasterCard payments online.

City of Sydney has developed a system where you can view your own account details and transactions online in a secure environment. Access will only be available to ratepayers that have pre-registered.
Once registered, you will be supplied a password that will enable you to view various property details, such as the current valuation details, rates and charges for the financial year, instalments due, and payments made. If you are already a registered user, click here.
There is also an automatic link to facilitate payments over the net from any VISA, MasterCard, or American Express card. Any payment made before 6.00pm each day will be reflected on the on-line database from 10.30am on the next working day.
