Glebe Point Road

The Glebe Point Road Upgrade project implemented urban design improvements to provide a more vibrant, active and safe public domain that reinforces Glebe Point Road as the ‘main street’ for Glebe. The City has spent $15 Million to provide:
- Traffic calming (40km/h zone)
- Improved Pedestrian safety and amenity
- New and wider footpaths
- Safety and security upgrades
- Undergrounding of overhead cables
- Public art
- 37 additional street trees.
Jubilee Fountain Square
The corner of Glebe Point Road and Parramatta Road has been upgraded as a civic space. This incorporates the restoration of Jubilee Fountain as a drinking fountain. The boundary stone and the Dave Sands Memorial have been reinstated on a specially designed wall. The new awning in front of University Hall provides improved amenity for outdoor dining without obstructing pedestrian space.
Glebe Public School Fence
As part of the project Glebe Public School has received an entirely new street frontage.
The new school fence was designed in collaboration with the artist Nuha Saad. The bus shelter has been integrated into the fence, freeing up footpath space and improving pedestrian amenity.
