The Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre

Artist's Impression of the Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre

The Ultimo community is the location for the new Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre designed by Harry Seidler and Associates.

There have been many occupants of the site for this new aquatic centre. This includes the AML & F Company wool store destroyed in a spectacular fire in 1992, as well as the 19th century housing along Harris Street and Bullecourt Lane.

This website explores a few of the Ultimo histories that have been enacted on this block of Harris Street.

A rewarding on-site signage and public art interpretation of the immediate neighbourhood had also been prepared for pedestrian visitors to Bullecourt Place.
