Sydney Design Advisory Panel
The City of Sydney appointed an independent Design Advisory Panel to help us improve the quality of private development and Council’s own urban design and public projects.
The panel meets regularly and contributes to raising Council’s commitment to design excellence throughout the planning, design and construction professions and industry. The panel also supports Council’s goal to recognise its internal capacity to ensure design excellence is part of our core business.
The panel continues to have a positive impact on Council staff and the many projects they contribute to. Members of the panel are listed below.
- Professor Ken Maher (Panel Chair), Chairman, Hassell Pty Ltd
- Maria Atkinson, Head Global Sustainability Lend Lease, former CEO Green Building Council
- Professor Kerry Clare, Director Clare Design
- Professor Richard Johnson, Johnson Pilton and Walker Pty Ltd
- Elizabeth-Ann Macgregor, Director MCA
- Peter Mould, Former NSW Government Architect
- Professor James Weirick, UNSW Faculty of the Built Environment
The panel was first appointed in April 2007 for a two-year term. In 2011 Council re-appointed the panel for a further two years.
Since it was established, the panel has assessed more than 80 private sector buildings and 50 Council projects.
For more information on advice received from the panel on specific projects, contact the City’s appointed planner or project manager.
