The City of Sydney is committed to delivering innovative urban design projects that improve the quality and scope of the public domain for residents, workers and visitors.

City Centre Laneway Revitalisation
The City of Sydney wants to bring life back to the City Centre’s laneways, and has developed a Laneway Revitalisation Strategy to reactivate these unique, under-used city spaces.

Crown Street, Surry Hills Upgrade
The City of Sydney plans to improve the retail precinct at the southern end of Crown Street to make the area more pedestrian freindly and accessible, and create space for outdoor dining.

Earl Street and Earl Place, Potts Point Streetscape Upgrade
Work is starting on 2 September to upgrade Earl Place making it safer and more attractive for pedestrians. The upgrade is part of our Sustainable Sydney 2030 plan to enliven city laneways and create a more vibrant city centre.

Forbes Street, Woolloomooloo improvements
The City of Sydney is improving Forbes Street to make it safer, more attractive and accessible for everyone to enjoy.

Harbour Village North Public Domain Study
The City’s Draft Harbour Village North Public Domain Study is a bold vision to breathe new life into the harbourside communities of Millers Point, Dawes Point, Walsh Bay and The Rocks.

The City of Sydney is proposing to improve the permanent road closure at the eastern end of Napier Street in Paddington.

Community driven plans to manage and calm traffic on local roads, increase pedestrian, bicycle and public transport access and provide better safety and amenity for local residents.

Pitt Street Mall Refurbishment
The City of Sydney is developing plans for the refurbishment of Pitt Street Mall, in the heart of the city’s retail core. The refurbishment aims to continue Pitt Street Mall’s reputation as a premier retail destination.

Sydney CBD Public Spaces and Public Life Survey
The Public Life and Spaces Survey will help give a clear picture of the quality of Sydney’s public domain, to inform the development of a Public Domain Plan that will form an essential component of Sustainable Sydney 2030.

Stanley Street Upgrade
Streetscape upgrade of the Stanley Street hub between Riley and Crown Street and various precinct initiatives in the area.

Western Distributor Underpass Skate Space
In 2009, Council considered a feasibility study for a potential skate space on under-utilised land beneath the Western Distributer and endorsed further investigations on the site.
