Millers Point & Walsh Bay Heritage Review

The Millers Point and Walsh Bay Heritage Review commenced in April 2006 to provide a detailed examination of the heritage values of the existing ‘Special Area’ at Millers Point and Walsh Bay (Sydney LEP 2005). A draft of the Review was exhibited in late 2006 and all submissions were considered in the finalisation of the Review.

The Review was completed in March 2007 and at its meeting of 07 April 2008 the Council considered a report on the Review. Council resolved to create a new Millers Point Heritage Conservation Area to replace the existing ‘Special Area’ and heritage streetscapes, and to list 8 new heritage items at Millers Point. Other recommendations of the Review including those relating to significant views and vistas will also inform the preparation of the City Plan LEP.

Exhibition of the review

A draft of the City Plan LEP is scheduled for statutory public exhibition in late 2009. Owners of proposed heritage items and community and government stakeholders will be notified and provided with an opportunity for comment.
