How do I apply?

Applying for a Matching Grant is easy
All you need to do is follow these five (5) steps:
Step 1 - Think of a project that will improve your neighbourhood
- Find some friends, neighbours or other locals to help make your great idea a reality.
TIP: Remember the more fun and creative - the better!
Step 2 - Start planning
- Work out what you can contribute, and what you need from us
- Organise a meeting or an online forum to discuss your project idea
TIP: Start planning - think about dates, costs and the amount of time that it would take to undertake your project.
Step 3 - Contact the City of Sydney to discuss your project
- Contact our Local Action Plans staff to discuss your proposal
- We will help you through every step, to ensure your project is eligible for a Matching Grant
TIP: Remember, the Matching Grants program is now open all year round.
Step 4 - Obtain any relevant permissions
- Some projects may require approvals or permits - we can help you with this process.
TIP: This can take some time so be sure to factor it into your project timeline and start this as soon as possible.
Step 5 – Complete your project submission
- Download the submission form from the City of Sydney website or have one posted to you
- Complete the form and attach any supporting documentation that will help us assess your project
- Submit a hard copy of your completed submission form at any one of the City of Sydney Council office locations before 6pm on the closing date
You're done! What happens now?
- You will receive an acknowledgement letter from the Local Action Plan team.
- Assessment of Matching Grant submissions can take up to 10 weeks.
