Waterloo Skate Park

Skater

The Waterloo Skate Park, or Fernside, is Sydney's newest skate park and the first of its kind to copy the urban streetscape layout of public areas like Martin Place and Cathedral Square.

The 920 square metre street plaza style park was designed by Chad Ford of F Beat Productions in consultation with a committee of local youth, skate boarders, and South Sydney Youth Services.

Lord Mayor Clover Moore MP officially opened the $600,000 skate park in July 2006 replacing the old metal half-pipe which had fallen into disrepair.

The new skate park includes upgraded lighting, a smaller half-pipe as well as a large plaza area featuring a pedestrian streetscape with benches, steps and ramps catering for beginners through to experienced boarders.

The park is located next to Waterloo Oval and the South Sydney Youth Services building on Elizabeth St (cnr McEvoy St).
