Butt Blitz
The City held two butt blitz awareness days on 27 June and 3 July 2007 at various locations throughout the City, followed by an enforcement campaign to minimise cigarette butt littering.
Campaign staff, cleansing staff and City Rangers walked the streets of Sydney chatting to smokers about positive butt littering behaviour and giving away thousands of personal ashtrays.

Pubs and Clubs Program
In response to the State Government’s recent anti-smoking measures, a special program was developed to target pub and club patrons and staff. The 2 July 2007 changes to smoking legislation may result in an increased number of smokers outside of licensed premises potentially creating more cigarette butt litter.
The City is currently working with existing partners and encouraging pubs and clubs to join including members of the Australian Hotels Association and Clubs NSW.

Drink coasters, table toppers, staff t-shirts and signage are available to partners to promote responsible cigarette butt disposal and highlight the importance of binning your butts. In addition, a limited number of wall mountable ashtrays are available to partners wishing to install one on the outside of their building.
