City of Sydney supports a number of environmental sustainability programs for business.
Smart Businesses Live Green (free assessments)
The City of Sydney’s new FREE environmental sustainability program for business, Smart Businesses Live Green, aims to help businesses save on water, waste and energy costs.
Smart Businesses Live Green provides City of Sydney Business Advisors to perform a FREE energy, water and waste assessment of your business. They will work with you to develop an action plan to reduce your water, waste and energy bills and to improve your environmental sustainability.
Smart Businesses Live Green is a program developed by City of Sydney, Sydney Water and the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water.
Benefits Include:
- Free professional sustainability support
- Free assistance seeking government funding or rebates for water and energy upgrades (and locating contractors when applicable)
- Reduced costs for water, energy and waste services through more efficient and sustainable use of resources

The Business Guide to the Low Carbon Economy: New South Wales

CitySwitch Green Office
CitySwitch Green Office is a national tenant energy efficiency program run in partnership between the cities of Sydney, North Sydney, Parramatta, Willoughby, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane and Canberra, government agencies, the NSW Department of Environment & Climate Change and Sustainability Victoria.
Previously known as the 3CBDs Greenhouse Initiative, the program uses NABERS Energy to work with major CBD tenancies to reduce their carbon pollution and was originally established by the City of Sydney, North Sydney Council, Parramatta City Council and the Department of Environment and Climate Change.
