City of Sydney plans to turn Sydney into a low carbon city using locally-produced electricity.

As part of its Sustainable Sydney 2030 plan, the City is challenging traditional electricity supplies from coal-fired power stations and is also committed to developing strategies and programs to protect and secure water supplies.

Decentralised Energy
City of Sydney is developing a number of essential reports including: a Combined Cooling, Heat and Power (trigeneration) Master Plan for the Local Government Area; a Renewable Energy Master Plan; an Alternative Waste Technology business case; and a trigeneration report for Prince Alfred Park Pool.

Total Water Cycle Management
Water is one of the most valuable resources underpinning the healthy functioning of society. City of Sydney is undertaking a variety of initiatives to reduce water demand, implement sustainable water supply sources and improve stormwater quality.

City of Sydney Environment Programs
The City is strengthening its commitment to the environment by developing environmental outcome based objectives and key performance indicators.

The City of Sydney Environmental Management Plan sets the vision, targets and actions to reduce environmental impacts of Council and the community.
