Sustainable Fleet
Sustainable Vehicle Fleet
To reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the City has taken a number of measures to reduce emissions produced by its vehicles and to offset its fleet emissions as part of the City's carbon neutral program.
- Eco-driving tips have been provided to drivers and a pushbike fleet in Town Hall is available for staff.
- The City has reduced the number of vehicles in its fleet and has smaller and more fuel-efficient vehicles. The City's entire light fleet comprises 39 hybrid (petrol/electric) vehicles.
- Large utes have been replaced with small diesel vans.
- Hybrid trucks, which use up to 39 per cent less fuel, are being rolled out across the City of Sydney’s fleet to service parks, footpaths and roads.
- The City is one of the ten founding members of the C40 Electric Vehicle Working Group at the recent C40 Summit in Seoul.
- For the few staff with vehicles paid through salary sacrifice, the City rewards those who choose efficient vehicles by paying 15 per cent of the salary sacrifice for vehicles that emit less than 200 grams CO2 per kilometre.
- We are now investigating sustainable biofuels, CNG powered trucks, and online eco-driving programs.
