Creating Green Villages

Australians produce the second-highest amount of waste in the world. We throw away 3.3 million tonnes of food every year – a quarter of our national annual food supply.
We also have one of the world’s highest figures for household water use. The average Australian home uses 230,000 litres of water a year – 70% of Sydney’s total water use is consumed in our homes.
The Average Australian home spends $1,500 on electricity bills each year – 90% of our electricity comes from fossil fuels such as coal which generates greenhouse gas and contributes to climate change.
This high level of consumption is unsustainable.
We all have a responsibility to reduce our environmental footprint. There are many simple actions we can all take to make a difference and many will also help us save money.
