What the City is Doing

Greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution come from a variety of point and non-point sources on localised and regional scales.

Responsibility for conserving energy and minimising air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions is shared by all levels of government, the business community, industry, community groups and individuals.

The City of Sydney seeks to achieve energy savings in buildings and transportation, encourage renewable energy usage, and reduce air pollution within the Local Government Area.

We have achieved significant emissions reductions from our fleet and identified significant energy savings potential for our properties and street lighting.

The City is now carbon neutral through energy efficiency and greenhouse gas offsets.
