Blue Wren Habitat Conservation

blue wrenSuperb Fairy-Wrens (sometimes known as ‘Blue Wrens’) are small native birds found across south eastern Australia. For more information go to www.birdsinbackyards.net

As urban density increases and other environmental changes take place, urban environments have become increasingly unsympathetic to the needs of the well-loved Superb Fairy–Wrens.

Through an environmental grant from the City of Sydney, the Glebe Society has coordinated a project to preserve and enhance the habitat for Superb Fairy-Wrens in Glebe and Forest Lodge. Once quite common, these birds are now quite rare in these areas.

For more information, download a copy of the Superb Fairy-Wren Habitat in Glebe and Forest Lodge report. The report includes:

  • The status of Superb Fairy-Wrens in Glebe and Forest Lodge
  • Habitat requirements
  • Recommendations for longer term conservation
  • What you can do to provide habitat

You can also download a list of suggested local native plant species to provide food and habitat for the Superb Fairy-Wren.
