Donations to the Library
The last City of Sydney Library Booksale was held on 17 May 2008. Thank you for all your support and donations.
Currently, the City of Sydney Library can only accept donations that comply with the requirements stipulated in the Library Development Policy (section 5.2.5).
Community Languages - Donations accepted
The library accepts books (as new condition/published less than 4 years ago) in the following languages:
- Chinese
- Indonesian
- Japanese
- Korean
- Thai
- Vietnamese
Local History - Donations accepted
Donations are a key way in which to develop local history collections. Items will only be accepted without encumbrances, and when they are relevant to the scope of the Local History collection. The library reserves the right, under special circumstances, to dispose of materials at a later date. Photographs will be accepted as donations, however it is expected that photographs be individually captioned with the subject, date, names of any individuals pictured in the photograph.
Once donated books become the property of the City of Sydney Library. If your books fall within the categories above please bring them to a branch of the library.

A mobile library which caters to the homeless people of Sydney.

To donate clothing and materials (incl. books) to The Smith Family, please call 1300 737 166 or put them in your nearest Smith Family clothing bin (if the bin is full please do not leave goods on the ground). Locations of retail stores (PDF)...
The Salvation Army
Deliver your clothing or goods to a Salvos Store or Family Store near you. (Family Stores are run independently by local Salvation Army churches). Find your nearest store.
Arrange a collection - call us on 13 SALVOS (13 72 58) and select 'Salvos Stores' at the prompt or fill out the online form to arrange for our trucks to collect large items you can't deliver yourself.

Schools
Schools (public and non-government) in your local area may be interested in book donations for fetes and other fund raising events.
