art workshop


Celebrate World Environment Day with eco-art. Come along to this workshop to discover how you can use non-toxic electronic waste to create sculptural works of art on canvas or jewellery. You can bring along your own non-toxic E-waste to transform or choose some inspiring items from the stock provided. Art materials and some direction will be provided, then let your imagination run wild!

Fashion Upcycling with Kelly Doust
workshop


Join bestselling author Kelly Doust in this special workshop to learn the best hints, tips and creative ideas for upcycling vintage and secondhand clothing. Kelly will divulge expert tips on how to fix or customise old pieces, giving them a new lease of life for many years to come. Preloved clothing and embellishments will be supplied, or bring along your own favourite item in need of a new lease of life. These are fun, easy and environmentally-friendly skills for even the least crafty: you’ll never look at tired fashion items the same way again.

Postcards workshop

Alison Lester’s heartfelt book Are We There Yet? is based on the real story of her family’s journey around Australia in a campervan. In this workshop we will create postcards to tell the story of your home town or special place that you have visited in Australia. You can enter your work in the National Year of Reading Are We There Yet? competition to go in the running for $40 000 worth of prizes and a chance to be part of the National Year of Reading children’s gallery.

8 stories high

8 stories high is a brand new book club and storytime for junior readers. The 8 sessions held over 8 months will each feature a different story. With fun craft activities and the occasional special guest, every session will take young readers on a new and exciting adventure.
8 stories high is a National Year of Reading program designed to inspire and encourage an early love of reading. June will feature cosmic craft and stories with special guest author Heidi Goh.

Rock, Rhyme and Story time

Join in the fun of storytime at the Library with these great interactive sessions for young children.

Rhymetime
is a lapsit program for babies that combines rhymes, music, singing and toys to develop early literacy skills. For ages 0-2.

Rock’n Rhymetime is for toddlers who are ready for action with music, rhymes, movement & stories. For ages 2-3.

Storytime is a fun session of story telling and craft for preschoolers that fosters an early love of reading and develops skills in literacy and social interaction.
For ages 3 - 5.


Bilingual Storytime is stories and songs in English and Mandarin, supporting language & literacy development and sharing culture.
For ages 3 and up.
