Q&A(rchitect)

Winner of the 2011 NSW Emerging Architect Prize Matthew Chan, of Scale Architecture, will give a presentation about his career progression, mentors and contribution to the professional community. The talk will be followed by a question-and-answer session, where fellow emerging architects, students and graduates are free to ask the difficult questions, with a focus on mentoring and teaching. The evening will be hosted by Janne Ryan, an ideas curator and executive producer of the recent TEDxSydney event.

The NSW Emerging Architect Prize is designed to recognise an outstanding contribution to architectural practice, education, design excellence and involvement in the profession through leadership. The short-listed entries will be exhibited in the Surry Hills Library Foyer throughout August.

Presented by DARCH, the NSW Emerging Architects Network with the Australian Institute of Architects.

Julie Chevalier: Permission to Lie

In Permission to Lie, Julie Chevalier casts a curious eye into many different worlds; from Australian jails to the Big End of Town through to suburbia. Member benefits: Goldner String Quartet & Ian Munro

WIN a double pass to hear the Goldner String Quartet at the City Recital Hall, Angel Place, thanks to Musica Viva. Fresh from the City of London Festival, Australia’s flagship quartet will perform a world premiere work with Musica Viva Featured Composer Ian Munro. The Goldner String Quartet will perform a diverse repertoire of Beethoven, Romantic and 20th Century works, as well as the premiere of Munro’s second Piano Quintet, featuring the composer himself on piano.
