Garbage & Bottle Collection
Noise associated with garbage and bottle collection commonly results from:
- Garbage and bottles deposited into bins outside normal business hours eg. licensed premises placing glass bottles into recycling containers during the early hours of the morning.
- Waste management vehicles collecting rubbish outside normal business hours ie. vehicle noise, collection noise
These practices occur for the following reasons:
- Commercial premises are often required to remove waste on a daily basis to meet health regulations
- Garbage collection must take place outside business hours to avoid traffic congestion later in the day, especially near to major roads and within the Central Business District.
Although necessary, commercial premises and waste collection services should take care to perform these practices in a sensitive manner that minimises noise impacts upon the community.
