Sydney City Farm
The City is planning for a new City Farm which could be a hub for food production and sustainable living in the heart of the city. The farm could feature demonstration gardens and orchards, space for community art projects, educational facilities, communal composting facilities and food outlets selling produce.
Our two proposed sites for the City Farm are a disused Powerhouse Museum car park and Sydney Park in St Peters.

City Farm Advisory Group -
Community Representative Expression of Interest
The City new City Farm facility will involve community participation in planning and implementation of the project.
We are seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified and experienced members of the community to be representatives on a City Farm Advisory Group.
The successful community representatives will be required to meet monthly and provide input and direction to the development of the City Farm business plan, design master plan and community consultation.
The community representatives will be required to work with other Advisory Group members from the City of Sydney and the PowerHouse Museum to ensure the project fulfils the needs of the community.
Expressions of Interest close Friday 17 February 2012.

The story so far
The City was first approached in 2009 by Sydney City Farm, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to establishing a farm in central Sydney, about finding a suitable site within the LGA.
While sustainability hubs are currently being built or considered in other areas of Sydney, including Randwick and Blacktown, central Sydney is one of the few major Australian cities that does not have a City Farm.
The study's two preferred sites were chosen from a shortlist of four, also including the Crescent Lands and Harold Park. Sydney Park is a 44 hectare City-owned park in Sydney's inner west, famed for its historic brick kilns, which were in operation from 1948 to 1976. The Powerhouse Museum's disused car park in Ultimo is centrally located, close to Darling Harbour, Central Station and surrounding universities.
In 2009, Sydney City Council announced the funding of a feasibility study to assess the potential of a city farm that would be located in the City’s local government area.
Clouston Associates held the first of three workshops that made up the public consultation phase in July 2010, with the final two taking place in August.
At the Council of the City of Sydney meeting on 6 December 2010, the exhibition of the Feasibility Study was approved for public comment.
On 7 November 2011 Council endorsed the Sydney City Farm Feasibility Study and resolved that an Expression of Interest be circulated to select community representatives for the Sydney City Farm Advisory Group.
