Dr H J Foley Rest Park
140 Glebe Point Road
Glebe NSW 2037

Foley Park, situated in the heart of Glebe Point Road covers an area of 6,000m2. A major upgrade was completed in 2009 which conserved the park’s character and enhanced its function as a community village green. Elements interpreting the park’s historical past, including a restoration of the Wireless House have been incorporated and access and visual connections have been improved.

The upgrade included the demolition of the Baby Health Centre and existing toilet block to maximise the useable open space, a new children’s playground, new paths and lighting, formal and informal seating and improved access from Bridge Road.

Construction for the second stage of the upgrade will commence in late 2011. This will include sandstone seating steps along the Glebe Point Road frontage near the bus stop to improve the available space on this very narrow footpath, planting and new terracing around the War Memorial and the replacement of the sandstone retaining wall near the Glebe Point Road entrance. The upgrade will also include additional interpretive elements such as a timeline for Hereford House and interpretive signage.
These landscape improvements will be followed by the construction of a new accessible public toilet near the Bridge Road entrance to the park.
