Laneways By George! 2009 - Hidden Networks!1 October 2009 – 31 January 2010 ![]() Discover new and unexpected worlds as you wander the hidden network of inter-connected laneways in Sydney's CBD. Eight exciting projects not only enliven these urban spaces, they also challenge us to think about our future. Eight exciting and innovative proposals have been selected by Curator and urban designer Dr Steffen Lehmann and the Evaluation Panel. The proposed Laneways By George! 2009 - Hidden Networks temporary artworks are intended to be installed for the City of Sydney's Art & About event in October, and will remain in place until the end of The Sydney Festival in late January 2010. The project aims to transform and explore the potential of City laneways with creative, innovative and inspiring high quality temporary artworks. Each project focuses on collaboration, sustainability and the changing role of public spaces, and has been created by interdisciplinary teams including artists; architects, urban designers, landscape architects, and others such as musicians, poets, a scientist and a lawyer.
