Wilmot Street

Wilmot Street will provide bicycle riders with a safe and convenient link between George and Pitt Streets.

A contra-flow bicycle lane will improve safety for cyclists travelling in the opposite direction to vehicles by providing them with a dedicated space on the road.

About the Cycleway

The concept plan proposes:

  • a 1.5 metre wide green painted contra-flow lane on the southern side of Wilmot Street
  • new line markings and bicycle logos on the cycleway
  • new bicycle friendly stormwater grates

The changes will not affect the footpath, and we will work to minimise any traffic disruptions during installation.

The City will provide residents and businesses with ongoing updates on all cycleway projects and the broader bicycle network.
