Flora Street, Erskineville
George Street | Flora Street | Concord Street
The City is building a safe, convenient and sustainable 200 kilometre cycle network to reduce road congestion, cut emissions and improve public health. We have designed the network to improve connections between employment, recreation and residential destinations to make cycling an attractive transport choice.
Flora Street
The Flora Street upgrades are proposed for the entire length of the street.
Key features of this section include:
- Making the road two way for cyclists while remaining one way for cars and other motor vehicles
- Reducing the size of a planted traffic island near Concord Street, and building another smaller one to make room for the cycleway
- Modifying the median strip near the intersection of Flora and Concord Streets to allow bikes to turn in and out of Flora Street
- Painting bike logos on the road in both directions to make it clear where cyclists should ride.
These changes will not impact on parking, and no trees will be affected.
Notification Letter
In April 2009 a letter was distributed locally providing information on the project and inviting comment on the design.
