Art & About Launch

A Night of Free Celebrations.

When: 1 October, 5.30-8.00pm
Where: Hyde Park North, Grand Central Walkway

Join us under the leafy canopy of Hyde Park North, surrounded by this year's stunning Sydney Life exhibition, for a fabulous night of entertainment including an Aboriginal Smoking Ceremony to celebrate the launch of Art & About, hosted by MC Nell Schofield.

There will be live performances from Emma Donovan, one of Australia’s finest Indigenous singer/songwriters and Tijuana Cartel, bringing their fusion of world music and electronic dance beats to the stage to get people up and dancing.

You’ll also have a chance to play with the latest digital tablets from Wacom and be one of the first to see the finalists in Sydney Life, the much loved exhibition of large scale photographs depicting Sydney. Lord Mayor Clover Moore MP and Stephen Dunne, Managing Director AMP Capital Investors, will announce the winner of the $10,000 Sydney Life Prize.

Aboriginal Smoking Ceremony

When: 1 October, 6.00pm
Where: Hyde Park North

Aboriginal people have used smoke and fire as a form of cleansing for thousands of years. Be a part of a traditional Aboriginal Smoking Ceremony with Jannawi Dance Theatre in Hyde Park North to pay respect to our Aboriginal ancestors and to pay tribute to the Open Gallery artworks.

Jannawi Dance Theatre is a community based indigenous dance theatre encompassing modern urban and traditional dance styles and is committed to nurturing a strong cultural identity by following the traces of our ancestor’s footprints.
