Kings Cross

Kings Cross, Potts Point, Elizabeth Bay, Woolloomooloo, Rushcutters Bay

Food and drink provides the most business opportunities in this village.

Tourism is also an important part of the local economy, with nearly half the city's backpacker accommodation found in this area. Kings Cross village centre also has about 10 % of the city's hotel rooms.

The area around Kings Cross, Potts Point and Elizabeth Bay is Australia's most densely populated district. It is famous for its nightlife and dining, with more upmarket bars and restaurants opening in recent years.

Rushcutters Bay and Elizabeth Bay are quieter areas, with parks and waterfront promenades. You will find smaller cafes, restaurants and bars here.

Large areas of employment include William Street's multi-storey buildings and the Garden Island naval facility.

Down the hill, the once working-class area of Woolloomooloo is still home to a large number of public-housing tenants. They are joined by newer residents in developments such as the upmarket Finger Wharf hotel, dining and apartment complex.
