Excessive garbage collection noise
Waste collection times for commercial venues are set out in the City’s waste management in public places policy. The collection of garbage is not permitted outside these hours.
The City may contact a business to reiterate collection times if the terms of the policy are breached.
If the noise is recurring and there is enough evidence to demonstrate waste collections are not being carried out in accordance with the policy, the City can serve a prevention notice to the waste company responsible under section 96 of the Protection of Environment Operations Act 1997.
