Business & Community EnterpriseThe City aims to strengthen local business through forums, grants, promotions and sustainability programs. We are also upgrading and beautifying main street and retail precincts.
These include the CBD, Redfern and Regent Streets, Oxford Street and Darlinghurst Road, with work on Glebe Point Road underway. Upgrades are planned for Stanley Street, East Sydney and Harris Street, Pyrmont.

Business Awards 08Local businesses will be recognised at the fifth annual City of SydneyBusiness Awards on 27 August. A new award will also recognise excellence in environmental business and the awards dinner will be carbon neutral.

Backing Community EnterpriseOur annual $7.5 million grants program, including environmental grants, supports communities, heritage, culture and business.
Last year community gardens, music for children, heritage restoration, community festivals and business precinct development projects all received grants. Information at cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au/grants

As a global city, we respond to other cities in our region. The City donated $100,000 to the Australian Red Cross China Sichuan Earthquake Appeal and $100,000 to the Australian Red Cross Myanmar (Burma) Cyclone Appeal. Visit redcross.org.au to make a donation.
