City of Sydney

Entertainment / Red Cliff: Parts 1 & 2

In celebration of the 2010 Chinese New Year, for the first time audiences will have an opportunity to see the original two part Chinese theatrical version of Hong Kong master John Woo’s (Mission Impossible II, Face Off) spectacular return to his Chinese roots, the action-packed war epic Red Cliff: Part 1 & 2, in all its glory on the big screen at Dendy Opera Quays.

Starring Tony Leung (Hero) and Takeshi Kaneshiro (The House Of Flying Daggers), Red Cliff is based on the legendary battle in which a force of fifty thousand men defeated an army of nearly one million, When the shrewd Prime Minister Cao Cao convinces his fickle Emperor that declaring war on the remaining kingdoms is the only way to unify China – the remaining kingdoms are forced into an unlikely alliance. Waging several battles of strength, this newly unified force faces their ultimate and final battle at the shores of Red Cliff, which would change the course of Chinese history forever.

“John Woo’s Red Cliff is the one of the most spectacular epic movies ever made” David Stratton, The Australian
