Hilda Booler Kindergarten

Celebrating 50 years of child care

Glebe residents and former attendees of the Hilda Booler Kindergarten have been invited to celebrate its 50th anniversary at a free barbecue party hosted by the City of Sydney.

The kindergarten took its first intake of junior pupils in 1965 and has seen many hundreds of children graduate over the past 5 decades.

Hilda Booler Kindergarten has provided an invaluable service to families in Glebe for 50 years and this is something to be celebrated.

The barbecue party will be held from 3.30 to 4.30pm on Friday 27 March and will include children’s games and entertainment.

The kindergarten is named after the late Hilda Margaret Booler, who lived in Glebe for most of her life from 1900 to 1984. Her grandson, Bradley, was one of the kindergarten’s first pupils and 11 members of her family attended its opening in February 1965.

Pre-school for 3 to 5s

Hilda Booler Kindergarten offers a pre-school program for children aged 3 to 5 years. This licensed centre has a strong focus on quality interaction and education that is designed to help prepare your child for school.

Our program is based on the national Early Years Learning Framework, which focuses on children's interests, strengths and individual needs. Our educators work closely with the children to develop a play-based program that is enriching and encourages collaborating with peers, making choices while building on their strengths and emerging skills. The experiences we offer foster children's social, creative, language, cognitive and physical skills.

The program runs Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 3pm, during school term with an extended hours service available until 4.30pm. A school holiday care program operates in conjunction with the Broughton Street Kindergarten, also in Glebe.

Hilda Booler Kindergarten is closed on public holidays, staff development days and for approximately 4 weeks from late December into early January.

Fees

  • $47.50 per day (8.30am to 3pm)
