Reginald Murphy Centre
Suitable for meetings, gentle exercise groups, rehearsals and small functions. The centre is located in the heart of Kings Cross.
It is available for hire Monday to Friday from 5pm to midnight and on weekends from 7am to midnight.
Dimensions
The room is 10 metres by 13.5 metres.
Capacity
- dinner: 60 people
- cocktail party: 60 people
- theatre: 60 people.
Facilities
Kitchen with:
- microwave
- hot water urn.
Equipment
- 7 trestle tables (each seats 6 people)
- 2 rectangle tables (each seats 4 people)
- 40 chairs
- 5 lounge chairs
- ceiling fans
- piano.
Special considerations
- Noise needs to be kept to a minimum, residential area.
- Additional cleaning can be arranged.
- Some functions may require additional security.
- Alcohol is not permitted.
Accessibility
Wheelchair access is available from Greenknowe Avenue and the accessible toilet can be used by prior arrangement.
Transport and parking
- Kings Cross train station is within walking distance.
- Bus route 311 stops on Macleay Street, near Orwell Street.
- Bus routes 323, 324, 325, 326 and 327 stop on Bayswater Road, near Darlinghurst Road.
- Limited on-street parking.
- Ward Avenue parking station is nearby.
Standard room hire fees
- standard rate: $42 per hour
- self-help groups: $10.50 per hour
- local community/not-for-profit organisations: $21 per hour
- day rate (9am to 5pm only): $252 per day
- weekend full day rate, including public holidays (8am to midnight): $420 per day
- elections: $1,000 per election
- security deposit (fully refundable): $300
- key deposit (fully refundable): $35
- community hire rate: 50 per cent discount on standard hire rate.

- cleaning fee: $53.50 per hour
- security fee: quotation available on request
- room set-up fee: quotation available on request
- portable PA hire: $250 security deposit per booking
- commercial sales surcharge: booking fee + 25 per cent
- wedding surcharge: booking fee + 10 per cent.

The Rex Centre
Suitable for meetings, conferences and large functions. The centre is on the first floor of the Rex Apartments and can accomodate up to 350 people with 4 large rooms that can be hired separately or for combined use. The entrance is next to the children's playground.
It is available for hire 7 days per week from 9am to 11pm.
Dimensions
The 4 rooms available have varying dimensions:
- Baroda room: 17 metres by 11 metres
- Fitzroy room: 18 metres by 6 metres
- Macleay room: 9 metres by 6 metres
- Greenknowe room: 9 metres by 6 metres.
Capacity
The Baroda and Fitzroy rooms can be opened into 1 large room. All capacities listed are theatre style:
- Baroda room: 100 people
- Fitzroy room: 100 people
- Macleay room: 50 people
- Greenknowe room: 40 people.

- 7 days a week: $55.50 per hour
- day rate: $310 per day
- weekend full day rate, including public holidays (8am to midnight): $550 per day
- security deposit (fully refundable): $500
- community hire rate: 50 per cent discount on standard hire rate.
