Eligibility to participate in program

To participate in the Youth Services school holiday program the participant must be:

  • over 13 years old, or
  • enrolled in high school if under 13 years old
  • a maximum age of 18 years old

Movies

The activities undertaken as part of the Youth Services school holiday program may include attending movies rated M – for mature audiences, not recommended for children under 15.

Weather

The City of Sydney may cancel a scheduled activity at any time due to changes in weather conditions and may arrange for an alternative activity.

Photography/ videography

The City may publicly display photos taken during the Youth Services school holiday program that may include displaying photos of the participant on the City of Sydney Youth Services Facebook page.

No personal information of the participant will be placed next to the photo, such as their name.

Indemnity

Although City staff supervise the activities undertaken as part of the Youth Services school holiday program there are inherent risks in every activity which cannot be eliminated. The participant and or the participant’s parent/guardian releases and holds harmless the City from and against any injury, loss, costs, expenses, demands or liability, whether directly or indirectly, arising out of or in any way connected with the participant's undertaking any activities that are part of the Youth Services school holiday program.

Travel

Some activities which are part of the Youth Services school holiday program may involve the participant travelling in a City vehicle or via public transport organised by the City.

If the participant misbehaves, he/she may not be allowed on the transportation organised by the City, in which case:

  • the City may require the participant to make their own way to and from the venue
  • the City is not responsible for any participant while they are making their own way to and from the venue.

If the participant misbehaves or refuses to return from an activity with the City group, the City may prohibit the participant from current and or future activities that are part of the Youth Services school holiday program.

Valuables

The City is not responsible for securing money and valuables (including but not limited to electronic games, iPods, mobiles and so on) which participants may bring to the youth centre or off-site outings.

Sunscreen and sun protection

The participant must wear sunscreen, appropriate sun protective clothing and a sun hat at all times when attending the youth centre and off-site outings.

Refunds

No refunds will be given for cancellation requests received less than 7 days before the start of the Youth Services school holiday program.

Behaviour

The participant must adhere to the following rules and expectations.

Rules and expectations

  1. Follow all instructions, directions and requests given by all City of Sydney staff members.
  2. Remain seated with seat belts on when travelling in vehicles.
  3. No food or drink to be consumed on the bus.
  4. Music must not contain explicit language or offensive themes and must be played at an appropriate volume.
  5. Respect all people participating in the Youth Services school holiday program.
  6. Do not harass or intimidate any member of the community who is walking or driving past the pick up or drop off points, or at the venues visited.
  7. No fighting, no violence or threats of violence (including but not limited to City of Sydney staff members).
  8. No drugs or alcohol to be brought to the organised events or consumed at any time.

If the participant fails to adhere to the rules and expectations, he/she may be excluded from current and or future activities that are part of the Youth Services school holiday program. In such circumstances, the participant’s parent/guardian will be contacted immediately.

Personal information

The personal information provided in the booking process will be used by the City to conduct the activities and provide a quality school holiday program.

The information will be accessible to relevant City staff involved with providing youth services. The information may be disclosed to:

  • the Department of Community Services
  • a court of law or any other government agency if the City is required by law to do so
  • a health agency if there is serious and imminent threat to a person’s life, health or safety.

Otherwise this information will only be disclosed with your prior written consent, with the intended recipient of the information and the reason for sharing the information being clearly stated.

Complaints about breaches of your privacy must be in writing addressed to Council’s Privacy Officer:
