Addressing drug and alcohol issues
Residents, businesses, the police and other stakeholders have joined the City of Sydney in making the local area as safe as possible.
Addressing drug and alcohol issues is a complex task and requires a multi-layered approach.
Community awareness and education, neighbourhood projects and safe urban design all contribute towards this effort.
The City's response
The City has a long and proud history of working with licensed premises to increase safety in and around these venues. Alcohol-free zones are just one our alcohol safety strategies used to address alcohol-related issues.
We also support a harm-minimisation approach to drugs. A main focus of our drug safety strategy is the protection of locals, visitors, businesses and people who use drugs.
